This RAK happened Monday at lunch. Two older ladies had come in for lunch and right next to them was a Mom and her two boys about 4 & 5 years old. At some point during lunch one of the little boys had something stuck and the only natural way for a little boy to get it out was to throw it up. I quickly helped the mother who was quite nice, but a bit embarrassed. While all of this was happening the two older ladies were chatting away with the other little boy who was just watching his brother through all of this. The ladies were super kind and just continued with their lunch. When I told them that I would like to buy their lunches because as a mom myself I totally understood where that mother was coming from and to have people around you not make a big deal and just say “it happens” really helps in that situation. They were very surprised and were pleased to see how quickly both myself & Josh were in helping out with the situation.
Firefighter & Nurse
My Rak for last week went to a family that is well known in the community. Mr & Mrs. Foote and their children were dining in with us on Wednesday. Their server Suzy had come up to me and was raving about all the good things they have done in the community, and how great they were! He is a firefighter and she is a nurse. I gave them a gift card, as they had already cashed out, and told them to come back and have a date night on us! They were very thankful and happy to PIF.
RAK Love
Tonight I bought dinner for a couple who got to come out on a valentines dinner date for the first time in 7 years since all of their kids have moved out and their work schedules meshed! They were a joy to speak with and were so excited to just be out together.
Birthday Surprise @ CJ’s Manch!
One of my guests that comes in all of the time told me he was celebrating on Friday night. I asked him for what and he said his birthday. He is an older man that doesn’t have any family, so I took care of his check and he is happy to pay it forward 🙂
Valentine’s Day Special
Tonight I noticed a couple that come in often without their children They were celebrating Valentine’s Day together, and I thought it would make there night if they didn’t have to pay for dinner. They were very thankful and cant wait to pay it forward.
Cravings
My RAK on Thursday was actually given out by one of our kitchen managers, Tony Palevicius. He loves to participate in random acts and knew the perfect couple to hook up. We bought dinner for a couple who Tony knew had just had some health scares and knew how important that it was to see them out and about. They were very thankful and happy to pay it forward!
Running on T-BONES
My RAK last night went to a woman named Brenda who was just getting out of a long days work at Dunkin’ Donuts down the street. It was her husbands birthday and his request for dinner was his favorite, Country Fried Chicken from T-BONES! Since it was her husband’s birthday I thought it was the perfect time to pay it forward. When she came in I let her know that dinner was on us! She was entirely grateful and showed it with a few hugs and a bunch ‘Thank You’s!’. She explained to me how she was trying her best to work all day and try to make her husbands birthday the best she could with the little time she had left 🙂 Just a sweet, sweet woman and she is very happy to pay it forward!
Valentine’s Date
Tonight I RAK’d a Mother and Daughter that were 1st time visitors on a recommendation from a guy they met at the mall. I chatted with them when they came in and we put them on the wait in the lounge and the dining room. Once seated in the lounge, their server told me it was their 1st visit and they were very impressed with our menu and atmosphere. I decided this would be a good Valentine’s RAK. I ran over to CVS and bought 2 individual roses and a heart box of Lindt Chocolate. I added a GC for their next visit as well. They were absolutely floored and I know they are going to come to CJ’s before anywhere else now!
Future Regular
I first went to this table, because one of the servers said the little girl looked like my daughter..I started talking to the table and the little girl wanted to see a picture of my daughter, when I showed it to her, she said “Wow that’s so cool..does that mean I won a free dinner?” I said yes as a matter of fact you do, you just have to do one thing for me. I gave her a $25.00 Pay it Forward certificate and told her that she had to pick someone outside her family to give it to..She chose her teacher…This was by far my favorite RAK to date, I have never given it to a child, e was so happy, like she won something big and was so appreciative.
The Power of a Ring
I had a man with his daughter sit in my section. When I went to greet them, I noticed the man was wearing a large gold ring. I asked him what his ring signified and he told me it was his Junior Ring from Norwich University class of 1982. I smiled and he asked me why the grin. I went on to explain to him that I was in the class of ’08. We exchanged a few funny stories and recalled numerous traditions that still go on today. We talked about our favorite professors one of whom we both enjoyed, Professor Orrick aka “The Prof”, and realized we both had studied criminal justice. We exchanged information and plan on meeting up for a drink at alumni weekend in the Fall. Bought he and his daughter their lunches that day and parted with a handshake and both saying, as if on cue, “Norwich Forever”.
