What a Great First Visit

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

Like so many others in the world, my life has been impacted by Breast Cancer. Knowing how I feel, Brittany suggested this couple as our RAK.  The woman recently went through a mastectomy due to her second battle with cancer.  We talked for a little bit, and she was a character to say the least.  She clearly has not let it impact her life, and/or pursuit of happiness.  I explained that we were buying their meals and that we ask that they pay it forward.  They were “wow”ed to say the least.  After I explained the whole thing, she said “what a great first visit” …… they had never been here before!!

The First One to Help

Hudson’s Random Act of Kindness went to one of our regulars-Todd.  Todd and his wife come in frequently and sit at the bar.  They are one of the sweetest, patient, and understanding guests that we have.  Todd will be the first one to help out one of the bartenders if they need something, computer fixed, whatever, he is their man.  Chris and I felt that it was appropriate to show him a Random Act of Kindness tonight with a gift certificate.  Believe it or not, he was not the least bit surprised that we are doing something like this!  I am 100% confident that he will be on the hunt for a really good pay it forward story to tell us on his next visit!

Such a Fun-Loving Couple

Today’s RAK went to George and Paula, they have been coming in for years and are such a fun-loving couple. They are the kind of couple that you look forward to seeing whether you are a guest or working. Paula was very surprised that I chose them and she can’t wait to find the perfect person to Pay it Forward to. I did buy them lunch.

All Dressed Up

We had an older couple in for a late Mother’s Day dinner tonight.  They were all dressed up, and come to find out it was their first visit out to dinner in the area after just moving here yesterday from New York.  I picked up the woman’s dinner as a combination Mother’s Day and welcome to the area present, explained our coupon, and she was excited to use it to make a new friend.  It was great!

Brightening a Young Lady’s Day

Today in Derry, Tina had a young girl and her father visit us today. It was clear from Tina’s first greet, that the young lady was having a bad day. She was crying, and told Tina that she could use a hug. At that point, Tina recommended that we use that table for our RAK. I introduced myself to Morgan and her father. I told them about our Random Act of Kindness, and explained the Pay it Forward. We took up their lunch tab, and sent Morgan home with a nice piece of cheesecake. They couldn’t believe their good fortune, and I am sure that Morgan will take the time to Pay it forward.

We Really Needed That

Tonight’s RAK went to a party of 7 that lost a loved one .. I bought their appetizer and dessert for the table.  No picture tonight …. I felt it would be wrong to ask for one!  One lady pulled me aside and told me that they really needed that tonight and made her smile for a moment!

Today I chose Kelly  (on the right) who finally after nearly 20 years has completed nursing school and graduated!  Figured it was a perfect time to Pay it Forward to her.  We took care of her lunch and she looks forward to shopping in the next couple of days to pick out who she will Pay it Forward to next!

It Made My Heart Melt

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

I was trying to find the perfect guest but no one stuck out. So I just did it to a table I had never seen before. The ladies started to cry, and told me that the had the worst day of their lives and I just made it so much better, it made my heart melt. Before they left she came up to the bar and thanked me again & gave me a hug.
