Celebrating One Year

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

Tonight we had a couple, Simone and Joe (Really Robert – but everyone calls him Joe), in celebrating a milestone.  Joe has cancer and has battling it for a couple of years now since his diagnosis.  A little over a year ago in February – Joe experience seizures, again in March and his last one, May 5th of 2014.  Since then he has been good.  They came out tonight to celebrate 1 year seizure free.  They were both thrilled I was picking up their appetizer.  We ended up chatting for about 15 minutes and they are both THRILLED to be heading out in the next couple of days to pay it forward. Unfortunately they didn’t want their pictures taken but they are going to tell me who they picked out and why!  Looking forward to it!

Trio on the Terrace

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

My RAK today was given to this fine looking trio joining us for a birthday lunch on the terrace. To the left is Pete (it was his birthday), Kathy, and William. We ended up talking a little about the book Pay It Forward by Catherine Rand Hyde. Turns out all 3 of them work for NH1 News. I made all their lunches a little sweeter by taking care of dessert for the table.

The Shirts Off My Back

Cinco de Mayo at CJ’s… Today’s RAK went to a couple of Tuesday regulars, Dawn and Irene, who come in to see Marci almost weekly. Before I went over to deliver my random act, I put on 2 of our Cinco de Mayo shirts. After explaining that I was buying their lunch in hopes that they would take the certificate and pay it forward, I added a little bonus by giving them the shirts off my back… I wanted to a little above and beyond on Cinco and we didn’t disappoint (they even asked for my dress shirt!). It was great to see them so excited by a small gesture and to pay it forward to someone else.

You’re Never Alone Here

Laconia’s RAK tonight went out to an elderly gentleman who came out to dinner alone. He sat in the lounge with Nikki and she came down to find me saying that she thinks he really should be our RAK this evening. I took care of his dinner and explained the promotion that we were running. He was very grateful and excited to give away the G.C.

The Sweetest People You’ll Meet

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

Todays RAK went to the two Aunts, they have been coming in since we opened and are 2 of the sweetest people that you will every meet. They were absolutely floored and surprised that we did this but they are more excited to Pay it Forward.I’m sure that there are a lot of people that work for the company that will recognize them. I did buy them lunch.

Happy Cinco de Margarito!

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

The woman on the right next to our cocktail server was our recipient of a Random Act of Kindness today.  We decided that it would be the first person to order a margarita (Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!!)  I explained that we had taken off her and her friends lunch today as our random act of kindness and went over the Pay It Forward portion.  Poor woman started to cry!  Apparently, her husband has passed away in the past year and her friend took her here for lunch to help her celebrate her husbands birthday (today)  I don’t know that I could possibly explain how moved she was by the whole thing.  She was touched, impressed, and already discussing ideas on how she would give her Pay It Forward certificate away!

Never Before Midnight

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

Tonight, Josh & I talked and we decided that we wanted the RAK to go to our midnight regulars Marty & Patty. Marty & Patty are originally from New Jersey (as he is sure to remind you multiple times per visit) and started coming to CJ’s when they were visiting family here about 2 years ago.  Recently they have made NH their home and they come by to visit us between 4-6 times a week but never before midnight.  Marty always tries the soup of the day and loves the variety we serve.  We as a management team look forward to reading the comments that he leaves for us at the meeting as they are almost always accompanied by some sort of joke or anecdote.  Tonight we picked up their whole tab as a thank you for being such wonderful guests.  Marty was definitely grateful and can not wait to pay it forward tomorrow.  I am sure we will be hearing all about it 🙂

Hello, GRANDparents!

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

OK – I know I already did one – but HAD to do another.  This is Rhonda and Victor – they are regulars at our bar and Rhonda just received a text that her daughter in Washington state was in labor with her first child – Rhonda’s FIRST grandchild!  She was in tears with excitement over just the text.  Then I come over to take care of their meals – and the tears flowed again!  She loves what we are doing and will be looking to pay it forward before heading out to Washington next Tuesday!

Suffering Sox Fan

Tonight in Derry, I waited until later in the evening to do my RAK. It worked out perfectly. Around 9:30, a party of 4 came in, and one of the guys was sporting a Red Sox hat. Perfect. The Sox were losing again. Who needs a RAK more than a suffering Sox fan. I introduced myself to the table, and explained the promotion. the guests were very appreciative, and thought that the promotion was excellent. I wound up picking up 3 appetizers for the table, and giving Nate the Pay it Forward certificate.

Polka Dots

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

RAK today.  We (our staff included) wanted to have a bit of fun with it today.  We decided we were going to Pay it Forward to the first person that came into our restaurant wearing polka dots.  Well – one just showed up!  Party of 7 women all out for a reunion and we picked up (2) appetizers for them.  The woman wearing  the polka dots is Rosamund (yup that’s how she spelled it).  She is anxious to go out in the next couple of days to do her part!
