Young Gentleman

Tonight a party of 6 came in and sat near the host stand. One of the hostess was moving some tables around near the family and a young man from the family asked if there was anything he could do to help. Although the help wasn’t needed he wasn’t taking no for an answer. I knew right then that he was going to be the one to RAK. I thanked him for the help and he said that he had some friends in mind that he could give it to.

Special Delivery

Over the past month or so we have been receiving a weekly takeout from a few teachers down the road at Nottingham West. Since they cannot leave the school, we are more than happy to accommodate them and deliver their takeout right to the office of the school. Since they are in their classrooms, I have yet to meet the teachers actually placing the order. I thought it would be nice to surprise them with lunch on us and let them know how much we appreciate their business. The woman who accepted the takeout & my details on our Random Act of Kindness promotion was more than happy to pass the message along for me!

Easter RAK

On Easter Sunday I had an elderly couple come in for dinner.  They have had a lot of health issues.  Having to pay for medication and physical therapy, they really don’t have a lot of money to treat themselves.  They decided, on Easter Sunday, to treat themselves.  When we told them that we were paying for their Easter dinner they were so happy and surprised.

Today we had a couple at the bar having lunch.  After hearing we were out of 3 items and finally getting something – I knew I would take care of them.  I went over to them and they said “uh oh…now what are you out of”.  I said “your tab…it’s on us!”.  They were shocked and couldn’t believe it.  They couldn’t thank me enough and were looking forward to the Red Sox game this afternoon…feel bad…as that just got cancelled.  I am sure they will find the right person to Pay it Forward to.

First and Future Guests

Had a couple come in today to have lunch. They were very outgoing and kept telling me how much they love the atmosphere, the service, and the amazing food quality. Visited with them for a little while when they told me it was their first visit to our family of restaurants. They explained they wanted to try a place they had never heard of instead of visiting a “chain”. I bought their appetizer and encouraged them to try our other two restaurants right here in the Manchester area. They were grateful and told me they would certainly be back to visit our restaurants.

Active Duty in for Lunch in Manchester

Today at lunch we had a table of 5 gentlemen stop in for lunch. They were all in uniform and I knew right away that this was my RAK. I introduced myself and thanked them a few times for their service to this country and let them know that I had picked up the entire tab. They were very insistent that I didn’t have to do that, but I told them it was the least I could do for what they do for us.

Thanks for the table!!

Today in Derry, I had a party of 2 sitting in the 60’s, and asked them if I could split off 1/2 of their table in order to make a party of 6. They responded with an “Of course you can, no problem”, it was right then and there that I knew I had my RAK table for the week. I approached Louise and Skip at the end of their meal, and again thanked them, and informed them that I chose them as my table to RAK for the week. They were very appreciative, and I know that they will Pay it Forward.

Tired Dad

My RAK this week went to a clearly exhausted new father, who spent the better part of his meal walking his 10 week old daughter around the dining room in an attempt to lull her to sleep. Man, did I feel his pain or what?! After swapping war stories about our last couple weeks as new parents, I hooked him and his wife up with lunch, and gave them a GC for the next time they can have “adult time”.  They were so happy, and are looking forward to paying the good deed forward, I can’t wait to see them again to see how they are doing.

$100 Bill Dropped

GNHR RAK Leave a Comment

My RAK involved a pair of bar guests who were walking into the restaurant and on the way to the front door, one of them dropped a $100 bill on the ground unknowingly. There were two people walking several feet behind them who noticed this. They picked up the bill and returned it to the person who dropped it. Both parties entered the lounge and sat on opposite sides of the bar. The person who was returned the dropped money told me that he wanted to buy lunch for the couple that returned the money. Then I bought their lunch for being kind for picking up the other tab. They were quite appreciative and were very happy to PIF.

A Widow

Tonight I had a lady come in, sweet as can be. She sat by herself and had shared with me she was trying the “go out alone” thing. She then shared with me that she recently lost her husband and she hadn’t gone out since then. I immediately knew I was paying for her tab. Once I told her that dinner was on me and all she had to pay for was her drink, the couple she was talking to all night bought that for her too. Another kind gesture for this lady who recently lost her husband. The lady, Nancy told me that I didn’t have to do that, my response, “I know I don’t have to but I want to”. I told her I was sorry for her loss and anytime she wants to go out for dinner alone, I’ll be here and I’ll keep her company. She was delighted.
