Extra Special Saturday Lunch

GNHR RAK 2 Comments

I had a table come in today to celebrate their father’s 91st birthday. Both adult children were with him and had traveled from out of state to be with him. I found out that his wife and the mother of his children died two days earlier. When I brought over their drinks they cheers to the life of there mother. It was special to be a part of seeing this bitter sweet celebration. Their story touched my heart in a special way. My mom passed away four years ago in December, and before I worked for the company. During the break between my mothers wake, my family and I ate dinner at Derry T-Bones. It happened to be the same table that this family was sitting at. When I went over to RAK the table and shared my story, we were all on the edge of tears. It was an extra special table to have, and a tender memory for all.

The power of a smile

Tonight was my first RAK experience! The Derry family always likes to be on the lookout for little ones due to the fact that they always make us smile! In this case, I overheard a server sharing his thoughts on a newborn at his table. As I was walking through the Dining room I passed by to say hello. Greeted with smiles all around, I presented the RAK and explained that we would love it if they too, payed it forward. We comped their tab, excluding the young mans beer and the end result was happiness and eagerness to continue the trend of acts of kindness.

Thanks for Giving

On Thanksgiving Eve we had some regulars Dennis and Pricilla at the bar and I overheard them telling another guest that she cooked 2 turkeys and 20 pounds of mashed potatoes and vegetables to donate. She delivered 1 turkey and the sides to the Bedford liberty house and also the other turkey off at a homeless shelter. I proceeded to talk to her about what an amazing thing she was doing by feeding the veterans and homeless. I knew I needed to do something for them. We bought their dinners and gave them a gift certificate for their next visit and also the RAK 25.00 to give to someone.  When they received all of this they both cried and was extremely thankful. Since then I have talked to them and found out that they donated the gift certificate to a volunteer at the shelter. Its people like this that make the world a better place.
