Awesome Kids

I had a woman come in tonight with her two young boys. The two boys had spent the whole day helping out with Toy For Tots, where they unloaded boxes of toys and set them up on display for other children to pick from. I told the young boys that it is great to see them doing something so nice for others around the holiday. Because of their hard work, I chose them to be my Random Act of Kindness for the week and gave them a Gift Certificate for a future visit. I then gave them a Pay It Forward certificate so they could continue to spread the holiday cheer.

Hard Time of the Year

Had a mother and daughter come in for lunch. They were out shopping together for holiday gifts and decided to come in to T-BONES to refuel. Johanna was their server. They all got to talking and the women brought up the fact this time of the year is hard on them as they had lost their husband/father just before Christmas one year. They began all sharing stories and laughing and crying together. Johanna approached me with the idea to do a Random Act of Kindness for these two ladies. I went over and explained that Johanna had shared their story with me and that I would like to give them a gift certificate to come back and join the T-BONES family and Johanna again and have something on us. They were very appreciative and couldn’t stop smiling. I gave them a Pay It Forward as well so they could do the same for someone else.

Pre Surgery Jitters

Had a woman come in who was having surgery the next morning. She was very nervous and was worried about the outcome and the procedure. I did not talk to her much about the surgery as I knew it was bothering her, so instead I sat down and just talked about life with her as she was eating alone and no one to talk to. We visited for a little while and gave her a Gift Certificate for $25 dollars to come back as soon as she had recovered and bring her daughter who was driving her for the surgery. She was finally smiling which is what I was aiming for in order to relax her mind from what she was about to go through. I also gave her a Pay It Forward to give to someone else and make them smile as well.

Dealing with a Loss

Had a couple in for dinner who come in from time to time and are always smiling. Tonight they seemed a little down. Found out through their niece who is one of our servers that they recently had a family member taken far too young from their lives. I went and sat with them for a little and talked about life and love and how they are awakened by their loss. They kept telling me to live my life to the fullest and take everyday by the horns and make it better than the day before. I gave their party a gift certificate for their next visit and a Pay It Forward for someone else. She said they always feel like family in our restaurants. I told her that’s exactly what we are going for and that’s why they were my Random Act of Kindness today.

She Defeated The Big C

Had a group of regulars come in tonight who I used to serve every week when they would come in. Tonight was special though. John brought in his sister who just recently was given a clean bill of health of being cancer free. She had undergone months of Chemo and Radiation, at the highest levels I might add, in order to fight the good fight to overcome such a scary part of today’s society. She had her hat on her head, but said it was like wearing a badge that she had won, and defeated the most extreme challenge she had ever faced. She told me it was her will to live, to not just give up, to push through the pain, which is what defeated her cancer. She said the doctors couldn’t believe she was able to do what she did to survive. So tonight, I told her I was giving her a victory meal, and that her dinner was on us, as well as a Gift Certificate for her to bring everyone back and enjoy something on us. I then gave her a Pay if Forward to give to someone else. The first thing she said was that she was going to go back to the treatment center and give it to a family there in order to help them with the burden that they too are facing. I gave her a hug and she kissed my cheek and told me she was grateful there are people like myself and places like T-Bones who care about others as much as we do. I shook John’s hand and thanked him for bringing his family in for dinner.

Puppies First Visit

Had a family sit on the terrace tonight. It was their second visit, however it was the first visit for their 3 month old Husky, still fluffy with puppy fur. They loved the fact they were able to bring their new edition to the family, only the second day with her, to a dog friendly restaurant and sit in the sun and even have a dog menu. They were very impressed with the service they received as well as the food, especially for the pup. I informed other staff members of the puppy and everyone wanted to see her as well. The family was even more grateful when I told them their new edition to the family had prompted me to choose them for my Random Act of Kindness. I gave them a $25 Gift Card for a future visit, and a Pay It Forward to give someone else, they said they would find another family with a dog so they could bring theirs in as well. Awesome family and such an adorable puppy.

Sweetest Regular

We have a regular who comes in almost every day for lunch. She always gets the same thing and is always so sweet to all the servers. She is always smiling and friendly whenever she comes in. Today, she forgot her credit card at home. This made her upset as she never does that. She’s always so nice to all of us here that I decided to do something nice for her. I bought her lunch and told her it was always a pleasure to see her, as she is always smiling and making everyone in the lounge smile as well. I gave her a Pay It Forward and told her to give it to someone else and make them smile. She was super thankful.

Doctor’s Visit

Had a regular come in today with her daughter. I went over to say hello and learned that the daughter had just come from a Doctor’s appointment and that they were both upset and not having the greatest day. I visited with them for a bit and got them both laughing and could tell their T-Bones visit was already making their day brighter. At the end of their meal when I explained the Random Act of Kindness, and told them that today they were my RAK, and lunch was on us, they couldn’t stop smiling and saying thank you. They were both super happy and kept saying how I/T-Bones, had made their day so much better. I gave them a Pay It Forward Certificate and they couldn’t wait to pass it along to someone else.

Hey a guest come in tonight who visits us in Bedford quite often. She always has a whole group of her fellow employees with her and she is always a blast to talk to and joke around with. Tonight was her birthday so I decided to RAK her for her birthday. She was so thankful and kept thanking me and T-Bones for doing that for her. They stuck around and celebrated and had so much fun. Awesome birthday gift she said.

First Time Visitor

Had a grandmother, her daughter, and grandson come in tonight. The grandson is 9 weeks old and just a cute little ball of baby dough. I went over to say hello and the little guy couldn’t take his eyes off of me. I got to talking and found out three generations were sitting at the table and it was the little guys first ever visit to one of our restaurants. I told them if that’s the case he has to get a T-BONE. They were super sweet and the little guy stole my heart, so I bought their meals and gave them a Pay It Forward to give to someone else. They promised that the first time he gets a steak it will be at one of our restaurants.
