Today I had two woman come in for lunch and they told me they were celebrating! Of course I had to ask why. I found out that one of the ladies received the news today that she would be adopting her baby brother out of the foster system. They were overjoyed to accept this baby into their family with open arms. Next they shared that there was a younger sister in the picture that they were also trying to adopt. I took care of the girls’ lunches and gave them a gift certificate in the hopes they would be returning to celebrate another adoption in the near future. I gave each of them a RAK certificate and asked them to keep the movement going. Teary-eyed, this woman said to me that she was grateful and excited to pass it on. She is going to give them out at a foster parent support group. I ended up giving them a few more to pass around at the group. It was a special Tuesday lunch!

We had a man come in tonight and sit down anxiously awaiting his daughter. He shared with his server that he hasn’t seen her in 16 years! They sat and had a long visit, I presented the RAK certificate and took care of their tab. The reaction at the table was priceless!

Tonight I was walking though the dining room and happened to see a family with three sons sitting down for dinner. The boys were quite young and on their best behavior. I was taken aback listening to their manners and politeness! It was a wonderful family and the boys were exceptionally good. I went over the the table and complimented the boys. I had a nice conversation with the parents and I gave them a RAK certificate. They were so excited to pass it on. I found out later that it was the father’s birthday as well. It was a very happy and sweet experience to be a part of.

I had a table come in today to celebrate their father’s 91st birthday. Both adult children were with him and had traveled from out of state to be with him. I found out that his wife and the mother of his children died two days earlier. When I brought over their drinks they cheers to the life of there mother. It was special to be a part of seeing this bitter sweet celebration. Their story touched my heart in a special way. My mom passed away four years ago in December, and before I worked for the company. During the break between my mothers wake, my family and I ate dinner at Derry T-Bones. It happened to be the same table that this family was sitting at. When I went over to RAK the table and shared my story, we were all on the edge of tears. It was an extra special table to have, and a tender memory for all.
