Random Acts of Kindness & Pay It Forward | Page 80 | We love to Pay it Forward here at T-BONES, Cactus Jack's, and Copper Door and we love Random Acts of Kindness. Since last April, we have been randomly surprising guests with free desserts, free appetizers, and even free meals! It does not stop there; each recipient is then given a $25.00 Pay It Forward dining certificate to present to a random person. We love doing this so much that we have dedicated an entire website to those stories!

I Need to Hug You

Our RAK today went to a couple sitting in cocktail enjoying a late lunch. I am trying to be as random as possible. I walked by, and just picked them. They were, by far, my most excited people to date. She stood up and said I feel like I need to hug you….and did. She then proceeded to say, “Now I need to find a way to Pay It Forward” I have to say it was very nice of her to make that segue for me! They love the whole idea, the fact that they were picked and were more than excited to Pay it Forward!

Back from Basic Training (Surprise!)

Tonight at CJ’s we had a guest that had just gotten back from basic training. He surprised his girlfriend here at CJ’s she had no clue he was coming or even home! I picked up his tab and thanked him for serving our country! They loved it 🙂

Oh, the Generosity

I chose an elderly couple that comes in to the lounge at least once a week. Bill and Evelynn are extremely nice. They visit the lounge for onion soups, and then normally split a meal. I explained the RAK, and Pay it Forward portion, and they could not believe our generosity. I gave them a gift certificate for their next visit, and Evelynn was very happy for the opportunity to pay it forward.

Random Meeting of Old Friends

I was able to do a unique RAK today for 2 couples at the same table. They are old friends that both “randomly” came to CJ’s at the same time and decided to have dinner together. I figured this was the perfect opportunity for a RAK. Instead of giving one certificate to the whole table, I gave one to each couple and they were both more than honored to pay it forward.

Today our RAK went to Kathy. Kathy has been coming here for many years – as of late by herself – but for a long time with her daughter. My very first table I ever waited on was Kathy and her daughter 15 years ago! Kathy was thrilled to hear about what we were doing and was very excited that she was chosen. Pictured with her is Robyn – her favorite server! Kathy looks forward to passing on the good deed!

Today’s RAK at the CoDo went to Cathy, and her friend Mike. I was at the host stand when Cathy came in and when I said hello, how are you, she said “Have you ever had one of those days where nothing seems to go right and you can’t get out of your own way? That’s my day today.” BINGO! After they finished lunch, which I picked up, I went over to the the table and told them of our promotion and that I wanted to reset her day. She couldn’t thank me enough for restoring her positive outlook and when I told her about giving her the GC to pay it forward, she just shook her head and said “This is awesome, I feel so much better, thank you so much.”

Wednesday Loungers

My RAK in Derry today went to two Wednesday lounge regulars Lynn and Carrie. They come in every Wednesday for lunch. I know them by sight, and to say hello to, so today I introduced myself. They knew me by name, so I hope that I can now remember them by name, although names are not my strong suit. They were very impressed by the promo. I bought their lunch ( not their Fairy dusts). I know that Lynn was excited to go out and Pay it Forward.

Just Keep Laughing

Tonight, our RAK went to Paul. He is a regular of our restaurant as well as Salem T-BONES apparently. Since he started working in Nashua, he tends to stop by here when he works late to grab dinner and wine. He is quite a character, and definitely keeps the bartenders laughing, and has nothing but amazing things to say about our staff and the company as a whole. It seemed natural to give it to him. When we explained what it was, he didn’t seem surprised! He was so very grateful and must have said “I am so happy to be part of this” two or three times.

Almost in Tears

I decided to pick a take-out person for today’s RAK at CJ’s… Loriana is a fairly regular guest that all the hostesses know by name. She called in an order today and that’s when I figured she’d be the perfect candidate. She only got wings today so I hooked her up with a GC for next time too. She was almost in tears and is more than excited to Pay it Forward.
