Hamward Bound

Today is Easter! I wanted to take care of someone who wanted to take our amazing ham dinner home. Tom, one of our regulars, was the first to order one! He was beyond thrilled to have this random act of kindness. He always comes in and orders a takeout with the hostess and then sits down at the bar to sip on his cordial beverage. Tom is always kind to us and is always a frequent flyer. He is happy to pay it forward to someone he sees tomorrow.

Had a Single Gentleman pull me aside tonight to tell me how wonderful his food and service was.  He has dinner out every Friday night after a business meeting and tonight he picked T-BONES. He was blown away with the Prime Rib with all the fixings.  Last week he chose a different restaurant and had a terrible experience.  After all his kind words, I thought he would be a wonderful choice to PIF. He was at a loss for words and couldn’t thank us enough and super excited to PIF.

A bar guest was talking with my bartender Kristy today.  She mentioned that her father had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer.  She asked me if I could do the Random Act of Kindness to help brighten her day.  I hope we helped to ease the pain she was feeling.

Today a young woman came in dressed in her Army uniform and she was in with her recruitment assistant. I thought they would be a perfect pick for this Random Act of Kindness! She was so thrilled and honored that we chose her. I thanked her for her service and all her hours of hard work she puts in. It takes a strong person to be in her shoes. They will be paying this forward!

On Saturday night I decided the next table that orders a 40 Day Fish Fry I am going to buy them their dinners. I delivered the food myself and told them that tonight was their lucky night just because they ordered our special Fish and Chips. They were so happy to have dinner on the house that they decided to have one more drink!!! They said they would Pay It Forward to someone they thought would deserve this Random Act of Kindness!

The Power of a Ring

I had a man with his daughter sit in my section. When I went to greet them, I noticed the man was wearing a large gold ring. I asked him what his ring signified and he told me it was his Junior Ring from Norwich University class of 1982. I smiled and he asked me why the grin. I went on to explain to him that I was in the class of ’08. We exchanged a few funny stories and recalled numerous traditions that still go on today. We talked about our favorite professors one of whom we both enjoyed, Professor Orrick aka “The Prof”, and realized we both had studied criminal justice. We exchanged information and plan on meeting up for a drink at alumni weekend in the Fall. Bought he and his daughter their lunches that day and parted with a handshake and both saying, as if on cue, “Norwich Forever”.

My Favorite Girl

There is a young girl in a wheelchair who is severely handicapped, but her parents bring her in regularly.  Whenever she sees me she gets so excited, moving and smiling, that I feel like a movie star!  Her parents are very nice and I always make time to chat with them.

Tonight I had a gentleman call in a takeout and he was just so nice and polite and from that point on I decided he would be the right choice for my Random Act of Kindness!!! Upon arrival he showed up with his adorable little girl and was just floored that he was chosen for this. I paid for his two sandwiches and asked that he Pays it Forward to someone they think deserves the random act of kindness!

Long Lost Friends

Had a gentleman come in tonight and he was from NH but his friend is from Missouri and it was his first time in our restaurant. Decided to take off their appetizer and gave them the Pay It Forward $25 gift certificate. Upon talking to the gentlemen more, it was revealed to me that they were high school buddies who hadn’t seen each other in twenty years. Got to talking to the guys and told them about how was born in Missouri, not far from where they were from. The both greatly appreciated what we had done for them and looked forward to giving the Pay it Forward to someone else. I teased the guy from Missouri a bit as he had on a Buffalo Bills sweatshirt. All in all a very pleasant table to visit and hook up.

Today My RAK went out to a regular who just informed us that he got called back into IRAQ after being out of active for many, many years. He’s going to build hospitals and housing also ” stuff he can’t talk about ” 🙂 He always comes in happy and a great customer to the staff. I bought his tab for him and he was thrilled and happy we do such a program! He said he will Pay It Forward to someone in need!
