I was out shopping at Hannafords with my one year old the other day. He was very rambunctious and goofy throughout the store and was waving at everybody. On our way out while trying to juggle him, a box of diapers, and a couple bags a very sweet woman who we had seen around the store offered to help us out to the car! It was so nice of her to go out of her way to help someone else that I took the Pay It Forward certificate from my car and brought it over to her! She was so thankful and explained she just did it out of the kindness of her heart!
On Monday around 4pm a young man came in from the rain with his bicycle. He asked to be sat so he could get food. After being sat he explained to his server that he had a free appetizer coupon and he was just going to get that. Unfortunately, the coupon he had specified that you must purchase two entree and he didn’t have the money to do so. The server and I decided to get him a soda and appetizer on the house since he traveled through the rain to come visit us CJ’s. He was so sweet and very thankful.
I picked at random today. I saw a mother and daughter having lunch and they were both laughing and enjoying one of our Max’d Margaritas. I thought YUP that’s the ones for me. I went to the table with a $25GC and a pay it forward. They said that they had never seen that at restaurant before and were very impressed. It made their day and gave them an excuse to come and visit us again.
Elsie is a long time guest that I have waited on since back in my Bedford days. She comes atleast 3 times a week and orders take out. She recently has been struggling and her son has been suffering through some medical issues. She came in yesterday to pick up her to go order and we had it covered. She was so shocked and sweet about it. She is one of our forever customers.
We had a young lady dine come in today with her family and some friends and they had lunch with us. They mentioned to their server Shawn that she is getting married tomorrow and the lunch was to gather everyone to go shopping for her final decorations. He saw that as a perfect opportunity to lighten her load and give her a Random Act of Kindness. We bought the groups lunch and gave her a gift card to come back after their honeymoon. She was so excited she teared up and we could tell it helped ease a little stress during a busy time! So great to make an almost newlywed smile!
Today I decided to pick the first guest I had to call in a take out order. My first take out was a lady named Kathy. She said her daughters come in fairly frequently and she decided to get take out. She was very surprised and grateful.
Was walking through the bar tonight and noticed a sweet couple chatting away. They looked like they were enjoying themselves as they sipped on their drinks. I wanted to make their day a bit more special and decided to RAK them. I surprised them with a $25 gift certificate for their next experience and chatted with them for a few moments. I kindly asked them to Pay It Forward with an additional certificate so they could make someone else’s day! They were shocked by the kindness and thrilled to be able to pass along the joy!
I answered the phone today for a takeout and immediately recognized the voice. It was an old coworker who has become very ill recently. After taking the order I inquired to how she was feeling and she told me she was on her way home from the hospital. When her husband came inside to pay I let him know it was on the house today and to make sure he Paid it Forward for us! They were absolutely delighted and very thankful!
Tonight my first bar regular at CJ’s came in and told us that this would be his last visit for a very long time. He is moving to Florida. I knew this was coming but wasn’t sure when. He has been a long time regular at CJ’s and really welcomed me when I start bartending here. He is such an awesome and funny guy that really does care about us! He’s one of the regulars you just truly love. I bought him and his friend dinner which ended with hugs 🙂 We’ll miss Ron so much at CJ’s!!
I did 2 RAKs this week. The first one was for a table who has twins with special needs. The children turned 21 and were accepted into a school that would help the twins develop life skills they need. Barb was their server and stated they used to be regular guests, but hadn’t visited in a very long time due to time restraints. We gave them a Gift Card to return and they were very excited to have time out. My second RAK came from one of our bartenders, Carmen. A couple of her regulars had come for lunch in a very somber mood. They had just put their family dog down and were very upset. They were grateful for the Random Act of Kindness. Carmen very graciously explained that we are animal people here and we understand the pain and the power of compassion.
