Beating Breast Cancer

On Sunday I was working in cocktail. I walked by the bar and a gentlemen had a fresh tattoo..I stopped by and asked to see it.  He showed me it was a pink ribbon with the word survivor underneath it and a beautiful flower arrangement around it.  His name was Wayne and his friend’s name was Jess. She is a five year survivor from breast cancer.  I finished talking to them and high fiving her. I had tears in my eyes and I knew I had to show the a random act of kindness. I gave them a 25.00 GC to come back again and asked them to share the kindness to someone else. They were very excited to do so.

I saw a couple laughing and enjoying their drinks. This was the perfect RAK. I told them I saw them enjoying themselves and looking comfortable so I wanted to give them a GC for next time. He immediately pulled his feet down from the booth when I said “comfortable” and said “oh should I not have me feet up here” and we all laughed! They were so appreciative and fun!

Three Generations

Had a table come in today with three ladies on a girls day out. While talking to the server and the table, I found out there were three generations that had met up for lunch; grandma, mom, and daughter. I visited for a little bit and found out they are from the Plymouth area. Further conversation revealed that the mother was actually an employee’s high school Biology teacher. I decided to give them a Gift Certificate as my Random Act of Kindness, not just because they were very pleasant to talk to, but also because she had to put up with our employee in high school! I gave them a Pay it Forward and they were excited to hook someone else up.

There Are Still Gentlemen in the World!

Today Gloria and Tracy, our hostesses, pointed out a young man that was having lunch with his grandmother and aunt.  They where bickering about who was going to pay.  He wanted to treat!  His car is in the shop and he is still in school so the ladies wanted to treat.  In the end he won! I had other plans, I returned his cash, took care of his tab and explained the PIF GC.

Long Time No See

Had a gentleman come into Bedford for lunch today whom I haven’t seen since my transfer from Laconia. His name is Larry. He is a WWII Veteran who served as a member of the United States Navy Seabees. I always had a great time talking to him and finding out what the Seabees did first hand from a man who was there. My interest is due to the fact that my grandfather served as a Seabee as well. Larry always gives me a hard time as I do not know my grandfather’s service information or what company he served with. Once again today he gave me a hard time again. It was so nice catching up with him. I bought his lunch as well as his daughter’s and gave them a Pay It Forward certificate to give to someone else. He was very grateful and gave me a hug on his way out. It’s always awesome to see regulars I haven’t seen in a while.

Awesome Kids

I had a woman come in tonight with her two young boys. The two boys had spent the whole day helping out with Toy For Tots, where they unloaded boxes of toys and set them up on display for other children to pick from. I told the young boys that it is great to see them doing something so nice for others around the holiday. Because of their hard work, I chose them to be my Random Act of Kindness for the week and gave them a Gift Certificate for a future visit. I then gave them a Pay It Forward certificate so they could continue to spread the holiday cheer.

Hard Time of the Year

Had a mother and daughter come in for lunch. They were out shopping together for holiday gifts and decided to come in to T-BONES to refuel. Johanna was their server. They all got to talking and the women brought up the fact this time of the year is hard on them as they had lost their husband/father just before Christmas one year. They began all sharing stories and laughing and crying together. Johanna approached me with the idea to do a Random Act of Kindness for these two ladies. I went over and explained that Johanna had shared their story with me and that I would like to give them a gift certificate to come back and join the T-BONES family and Johanna again and have something on us. They were very appreciative and couldn’t stop smiling. I gave them a Pay It Forward as well so they could do the same for someone else.

Tonight as I was walking into work I saw a dad and his son get out of their vehicle and heard the young man scream and I quote “YES T-Bones Woo Hoo. T-Bones T-Bones T-Bones! This made me smile because he clearly was so excited to be coming into diner this evening! I knew from that moment I wanted to make his night extra special. After they were done eating I went over and told this young man that I heard his happy chant in the parking lot and he seemed to get embarrassed. I told him when I was younger that I had the same reaction he did when I would go to Hudson with my parents! I gave him a gift certificate to bring his dad out to dinner and also a pair of our awesome kids sunglasses! He almost screamed again and was beyond thrilled… Moments like this is truly what makes me so proud to work for this amazing company and see how many smiles we can give someone!

California Regular

We have a woman regular at Bedford T-Bones, who lives in California, however is in New Hampshire a lot for business. Every time she is in the area she makes a point to come in and have dinner at T-Bones. Her most recent visit included a family dinner, after which she made her way to T-Bones to have the dinner she was really looking forward to. I bought her dinner and dessert for her and gave her a pay it forward. I explained how that works and said but please don’t give it to someone in California as it might not make its way back to New Hampshire.
