65 Years…Still Going Strong!

Today we had Bill and Marguerite out celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary (and on a side note…Bills 89th birthday).  They were out with their 2 granddaughters for lunch.  We decided to surprise them by taking care of their lunch!  They were all totally blown away.  I mentioned to Bill “what a birthday gift you got 65 years ago” pointing to Marguerite.  They were such a nice couple and we were happy to choose them today as our Pay it Forward and help them celebrate!

Welcome Home!

Tuesday night we had a party of 5 come in to celebrate the home coming of an Army Veteran from Iraq.  The mom was first to arrive and asked if we could do a birthday cake for her son as he missed his birthday over seas.  We took it one step further!  Upon completion of dinner and before presenting the check, I went over to the table with a birthday cake and a candle.  He was very surprised.  I thanked him for his service and announced that we would be taking care of the bill.  They were completely blown away.  He mentioned that T-BONES was the last restaurant food he ate before deploying and the first he has had since returning. His daughter was moved to tears and you could tell that the family had a lot of catching up to do.  I presented him with the Pay It Forward and he couldn’t stop thanking us.  Tables around them were commenting afterwards how nice the gesture was on our part.

Lost Payback$

One of our guests dining in today left their Payback$ card. They called and spoke to the hostess and asked that we mail it back to them because they were worried that they wouldn’t get here soon enough & it may go missing. I thought it would be a nice surprise to include a gift certificate along with a note explaining how we perform random acts of kindness & that they also get to Pay it Forward. Hopefully they’ll enjoy their surprise & come in for lunch again soon!

Oh Camille

Tonight some regulars came in, they called ahead like the normally do whether if it is a busy night or not, they love that we know their name right when they walk in. The wife’s name is Camille, which is also the name of my car. As I walked her to her table I told her it was the name of my car and the story behind the name. She though it was amusing. I told her that I was taking care of her and her husband’s dinner she said she was having the best week ever.

Young Gentleman

Tonight a party of 6 came in and sat near the host stand. One of the hostess was moving some tables around near the family and a young man from the family asked if there was anything he could do to help. Although the help wasn’t needed he wasn’t taking no for an answer. I knew right then that he was going to be the one to RAK. I thanked him for the help and he said that he had some friends in mind that he could give it to.

Special Delivery

Over the past month or so we have been receiving a weekly takeout from a few teachers down the road at Nottingham West. Since they cannot leave the school, we are more than happy to accommodate them and deliver their takeout right to the office of the school. Since they are in their classrooms, I have yet to meet the teachers actually placing the order. I thought it would be nice to surprise them with lunch on us and let them know how much we appreciate their business. The woman who accepted the takeout & my details on our Random Act of Kindness promotion was more than happy to pass the message along for me!

Today we had a couple at the bar having lunch.  After hearing we were out of 3 items and finally getting something – I knew I would take care of them.  I went over to them and they said “uh oh…now what are you out of”.  I said “your tab…it’s on us!”.  They were shocked and couldn’t believe it.  They couldn’t thank me enough and were looking forward to the Red Sox game this afternoon…feel bad…as that just got cancelled.  I am sure they will find the right person to Pay it Forward to.

1 Day Too Late!

Joe & Diane came in with their significant others. I had delivered their cups of soup and began to chat with them and they told me about how great their server, Scott, was. This was quite the fun group, they were having drinks and really just enjoying each others company and I had yet to see them stop talking. I then delivered their Fish & Chip dinners which each of them had. I started to realize that they must have come in for our 40 Day Fish Fry special, but they had just missed it by just one day. Just to confirm, I went back after I saw them finishing up to see how everything was and to ask what brought them in tonight? They were telling me how amazing our soups are, our service is always wonderful, our fish is better than any seafood restaurant around, and for all those reasons they came in. Then they said they were really looking forward to catching the 40 Day Fish Fry special before it ended. I told them that I had assumed that’s what they were looking for &  apologized that they missed the special. I then told them I had something even better for them- Dinner on us! I explained the Random Act of Kindness promotion and they were thrilled. I received a hand shake, a hug, and a sincere ‘Thank You’ from each of them. They really love T-BONES; visit multiple times a week, and this just exceeded any of their expectations. They look forward to paying it forward and spreading the word about what we’re doing here at T-BONES!

A WOW Kind of Night!

Tonight we had guests in, Steven and Susan and their two boys.  Steven (dad) has a gluten allergy.  They were going to order the BC Fries for an appetizer.  After explaining our concern about the potatoes being fried in the same oil as breaded chicken, fish, onion rings, etc.  I offered to bake the potato medallions but in the end  he decided that he just wouldn’t eat any – but to still get them for the family.  I gave him the first WOW when I brought out the regular BC Fries for the family along with a 1/2 order of baked BC Fries just for him.  He was quite thrilled.  I took it one step forward with another WOW and took care of the appetizer and finally the third WOW – I gave them a $50 gift certificate to come back again real soon.  He was shocked he said “What did I/we do to deserve this??”.  He and his wife were very appreciative as were the kids who took the GC and were fighting over it.  Look forward to seeing them again!

Big Changes!

Bobby & Thuy have had a lot of big changes & big purchases in the last year or so! A baby girl, new house, and most recently the purchase of a new car! They came in twice this week as they were purchasing their car from the Subaru dealer right down the road. Since they live in Derry they typically go to our Derry location. So of course, I was very happy to have seen them twice in one week! I thought it would be sweet to hook them up with lunch on us! They love T-BONES and love what we’re doing. They were more than happy to pay it forward!
